Management Consultation
Training and Consulting Services offers a full range of specialized services for correctional program managers and administrators needing reliable information about suicide risk management or mental health issues. We offer a multifaceted approach to the issues of policy development, staff training, and the adequacy of program oversight. If necessary, post-incident investigation and program evaluation is also available.
Suicide Risk Management
An effective risk management strategy begins with a comprehensive analysis of an organization's potential areas of increased liability, beginning with policy development, training programs, and management oversight. While varying levels of vulnerability may exist within an organization that does not compromise the overall adequacy of the care provided, in general, the more comprehensive the risk management program, the greater level of risk mitigation that is achieved.
By drawing on his many decades of hands-on experience, Dr. White is able to quickly identify and evaluate areas of risk within the organization and provide realistic, cost-effective solutions that will minimize the likelihood of future adverse impacts. By developing programatic options based on acknowledged best practices and accepted standards of care, our risk management services provide a useful metric that enables you to choose the specific level of desired risk mitigation that is optimal for your organizational needs.
Liability Mitigation Consultation
Working with offender populations requires blending traditional mental health treatment with sound correctional practices, a combination of skills rarely acquired by community based practitioners. Dr. White’s consulting assessments and recommendations are based on more than a quarter century of providing and overseeing direct clinical service to offenders. He knows what the problems are and can offer practical solutions that have been crafted after years of struggling with these complex issues on a day-to-day basis. Both the U.S. and Canadian federal governments have utilized Dr. White’s services. In addition, 20% of state departments of correction and many local agencies have also used his consultation and/or training services.
Dr. White’s many years of clinical as well as administrative experience gives him a broad perspective for viewing the issues surrounding correctional suicide and mental health treatment. He seeks practical, common sense solutions and focuses on preventing rather than reacting to problems.
